Pokémon Catching GuideTo progress through the game you will need to battle. You cannot go through to game if don't battle! In the game you will have to battle with Gym Leaders for League Badges, trainers for Exp. Points, some times for items too and in a special case, for their Pokémon, but that's just only in Collessuem, but the point is that, for any kind of battle you will need a Pokémon. You get one Pokémon in the beginning of the game, which is commonly known as the "starter".You can battle with the starter and can easily win the early battles of the game, but as you advance you will soon see new types of Pokémon, which will be stronger than the previous ones and you will begin to realize that you need much stronger Pokémon with newer types. For that you need to catch new Pokémon .Pokémon can be caught easily. For catching a Pokémon you will need four things:
Summary1.First you need to go to a area with grass/tall grass/sand/ice/cave/water or any place where you can or have encounter Wild Pokémon .These places are easy to find. You will encounter different Pokémon in different places. Some are unique to their places and cannot be found on the other places while some are very common and can be encountered in almost every area and some are only found in their area but still are VERY VERY rare; a good example will be of the rare and famous Feebas. For catching a Pokémon like Feebas you also need a lot of patience. You can also fish and dive for a Pokémon. 2. Second, a Pokémon that is already with you; that is in your party. The Pokémon's Level should be according to the Level of the Pokémon in that area; for example: If you are in a area where the average Level of the Wild Pokémon is about Level 20 - 25, then your Pokémon's Level should be about 19 - 23.Why?? Because in this way, your Pokémon will not be very weak nor too strong and the Wild Pokémon will be the same.It is always a good idea to keep 2 - 3 Pokémon with you, just in case. 3. Ahh....Pokéballs, the item that you use to catch a Pokémon. They come in a variety of colors and designs but their purpose is the same to catch a Pokémon. However, they have their specifications. They are listed below with their specifications:
Well there you have it, all the Pokéballs and their description. 4. Moves..their power should be moderate because you don't want to faint the Pokémon and if they are weak then you won't be able to damage the Pokémon.Use moves like Scratch and Tackle if it is a low-level Pokémon and moves such as Flame Thrower and Ice Beam if it is a high-level or legendry Pokémon. 5. Status Inflicting Moves are Poison Powder,Sleep Powder,Will-o-Wisp,Ice Beam and all those moves which gives you a Status. These moves are optional but if you are going to capture a high-level or legendry Pokémon, they will make the process much easier. If you freeze Rayquaza or specially Mewtwo, capturing them with a Ultraball will be a snap. Detailed ExplanationWhen you have found the area where you want to capture Pokémon.Buy a few balls according to the type of the Pokémon in that area.Keep a nice Pokémon ,preferably your starter, that has moderate moves and it's Level should be according to Level of the Pokémon of that area.Moves should be moderate and according to Level of the Pokémon you are going to encounter. This is important. Status Inflicting Moves are optional but keep them if you are going to capture a high-level or legendry Pokémon. Now let's suppose a battle scenario(it's about a weak Weedle and my Charmander):
First walk in the grass and wait for a Pokémon to show up
In my example a Weedle showed up.
Don't throw the ball directly!! First weaken it.
When you weaken it so much that it's H.P is red or at least yellow and better yet apply a Status on it, then go to your Bag.
Go to the Pokéballs section and select a Ball,I used the Pokéball.
Throw the ball and keep your fingers crossed .I have heard pressing A and B simultaneously helps but I am not confirmed.
The ball will move and chances are that it will catch it or it will break ,if the Pokéball breaks then either weaken it more, apply a Status if you haven't before or throw another Ball.
If you are lucky then the Ball will catch that Pokémon and a golden stars will appear on the Ball. Then you can view it's Pokédex entry and give it a nickname. Viola!! You have a Pokémon! Mind you these techniques do not work well on Legendry Pokémon.I will write another guide about Legendry Pokémon Catching soon.(*whew* *long sigh*My hand is aching.)
