1. PhilCST uses a standard grading system (See: PhilCST Grading Manual). Students are to be informed by their faculty of the evaluation and the computation of their academic performance.
2. The following marks may appear on the student record:
PASSED – if the student has a final grade of 75% or higher.
FAILED – this remark can be given to a student if :
b.1 The computed final grade is lower 75%.
b.2 The student was able to take midterm examination but never attend His/Her class thereafter.
INC (Incomplete) – An Incomplete grade may be given to a student who is passing but needs to complete significant requirement in the subject. Incomplete grade must be completed within the next semester or within the period set by the Registrar or V-P Academic Affairs Office. Otherwise, the INC grade shall Automatically become a FAILING GRADE. Applicable only in laboratory Subjects.
NFE (No Final Examination) – Given to student who was not able to take the final examination provided however that He/She passed the midterm grade and was able to take the Semi-Final Examination.
UD (Unofficially Dropped) – This mark is given to a student who is officially Enrolled as per registration form but has neither submitted his class card not attended his classes.
WP (Withdrawal with Permission) – This mark is given to a student who withdrawal his enrolment from the course or a subject for a valid reason and with expressed permission of the College Dean or College Registrar.
DRP (Dropped) – A DROPPED grade can be given to a student if::
g1. He/She submitted His/Her classcard but did not attend His/Her class Thereafter. Note that the time the students stop attending His/Her class is critical. If the students stop attending His/Her class before the midterm examination then a “DROPPED” grade will be given.
As a matter of policy, all complaints regarding grades must be filed with the College Dean or Vice – President for Academic Affairs not latter than the month of the following term.
g2. His/Her classcard was submitted to the guidance office and was not claimed thereafter.
EXAMINATION AND GRADES
There are five major examination schedules during the semester: check-up, preliminary, midterm, semi-final, and final examinations. These are accordingly announced in the school calendar. Examinations outside of the schedule are not allowed. No students shall be exempted from any of these examinations.
No examination shall be conducted outside of the campus.
Oral examinations, unless approved by the College Dean, are allowed. Final examinations are always written and test booklets are kept in the Registrar’s Office for a period of one semester or purpose of verification and clarification if needed.
In no case may student take an examination without an examination permit duly issued by the Registrar’s Office.
The corrected test booklets are returned to the students within eight(8) days from the date of actual examinations.
Students must observe at all times, honesty and silence during examinations. They clear their desk of everything except that which they are allowed to have on hand by the faculty. They must not leave the examination room before they have completed their work. They submit their test booklet personally the faculty.
As a general policy, students who cheat during the periodical examinations get a mark of 60% for the particular examination.
The class standing is the sun total of all recitations, quizzes, homework’s , themes, experiments, laboratory works, class reports, plates, models, project, conduct, attendance and the like.
Final grades submitted by the faculty and duly approved by the College Dean are deemed final, except when correction is justifiable as supported by pertinent evidence.
Requirements of the course and other class work missed during an absence an academic liability of the student.
