Comic Reviews

If anyone has any suggestions on other web comics I may be interested in or you yourself are looking to advertise your web comic please email me.
NOTE: Due to the fact that I run my own Sonic comic I felt it would be unfair if I reviewed other Sonic comics.
Now onto the comics.

Catharsis created by JB
Another well established web comic running daily! Ach it cana be don captin, to quote a fat Scotsman, but they do it. Anyway an interesting mix of a dragon, squirrel, cat who thinks shes a ninja, strange tucka tucka berries, dust bunnies, a pirate sock and not forgetting the female lead all living under one roof.

Ctrl+Alt+Del created by Tim Buckley
Now then this has the honour of the first web comic I came across and have enjoyed it since. Mostly about two guys Ethan and Lucas as they play computer games (X-box well I suppose someone had to buy it) and try to get through life. Little plot to speak of although there are running stories which do leave lasting effects, and they are the official home of winter en mass. No back reading really required a nice pick up at any time comic. Published Monday Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

El Goonish Shive created by Dan Shive
Strange name great comic. This hand drawn work has brilliant characters from plain old humans to aliens to a shape changing squirrel cross breads (very cute), and not forgetting a transformation gun, strange situations guaranteed. This comic is well established with archives going back to early 2002 and a running plot. With at least three comics a week there’s plenty to keep people busy catching up overall a great comic if you have the time to read the entire back-story (and I mean all of it).

Legostar Galactica
Legostar Galactica
Someone obviously got to much Lego as a kid, and as some people have guessed from the title it’s another take of modern scfi TV shows. The intrepid crew of the U.S.S. Muffin travel from place to place, where red shirt is guaranteed to die in a new way. The only problem I have with this comic is sometime the lighting is just too strong. Updated on the dot Monday to Friday daily.

Mega Tokyo created by Fred Gallagher
I have to admit I have always been fascinated by the Japanese, while I have never gotten into manga or anything like that, this comic has just feed that fascination. Based around two Americans going to Japan on the whim of Piro, they are stranded there when they don’t have enough money to get back, so they have started to work to try and get home, well Piro has, (Largo just seems to be comic relief and he’s very good at that, ph34r |-|i5 l33t 5ki11z). There’s a twist though Piro, and Largo seem to falling for two girls so when they do get the money to go home will they? Published Monday Wednesday and Friday.

Ozy and Millie
Ozy and Millie created by David Craig Simpson
Set up like a comic strip as seen in a news paper, this comic follows a general rule of three panels of philosophy or discussion and then gag for the last one. There is a back story to this but nothing that can’t be deemed from the current comics, believe me there’s a big archive, back to 1998 (it took me a week to get through it). Based around two foxes Ozy and Millie who are 9 and starting to find there way in world, this comic is filled with insight into life and the occasional good joke. Published every weekday this is a great quick escape comic.

Purgatory
Despite the fact this hasn’t had a new comic since October last year I’m still putting this here, because I love it, as a die hard Sega fan. What can I say a blue two tailed fox type inventor, (any guesses to who thats based on). I forget the rest of the cast all I can say is its funny.

Star Bored
Mostly a funny take on star trek/wars (I read a lot of those), with all the characters reinvented, there are more references to American TV shows than I can keep up with. I’ts great how he has managed to tie so may genres into one thing. Updates are every Sunday although he does sometimes missed that, hay he may be busy.

Start Wrecks
Start Wreck
Sorry I had to put Star Trek in here somewhere and this is the only one I have come across so far. A mix of classic gags on special effects to comparisons between star wars and they even have a red shirt called Kenny, oh dear. There appears to be no logical update schedule, just when there done from the looks of things.

VG Cats by Scott Ramsoomair
Most people are probably already familiar with this, it’s a very popular comic, or at least I think it is. Basically it boils down to making fun of the little quirks of the latest console games out there and they do it so well. Updated Mondays.

Legal stuff; All scripts are the intellectual copyright of Phil Sims industries, all characters are the property of Sega and have been used without their permission, so if you do read this please don’t sue me! All original characters, e.g. the red hedgehog are the intellectual copyright of Phil Sims although I’m sure the sonic comics have done a similar character in the past at least in look. If anyone takes offence to any violence on this page please go stuff yourself this is a cartoon for goodness sake it's not real. Please do not repeat any acts of violence this comic may display at some point as it will hurt. Any similarity to real life situations or people are purely coincidental and should not be taken offence to, copying is the sincerest form of flattery.
